Wildlife Rehabilitation
The Chattanooga Zoo is a fully licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility in the state of Tennessee and serves the Chattanooga metro area. Due to state wildlife laws, the Zoo is not permitted to rehabilitate animals from outside of Tennessee. Wildlife information for Georgia residents can be found below. Due to rabies risk, the Zoo is not allowed to rehabilitate raccoons, coyotes, bats, and foxes. If you have found one of these animals, please call for assistance.
If you find a baby animal, it is best to locate the nest and place the baby back in or around the nest. The animal’s mother will return even if you have touched the baby. You should wait at least one hour to see if the mother has returned. If the mother does not return, please call the Zoo for instructions on how to proceed.
If you find an injured or orphaned baby or adult animal, do not attempt to give food or water. Keep the animal in a quiet, dark place away from people and pets. Contact the Zoo for further instructions.
