Zoo campers will interact with our magnificent zoo critters and the keepers that work with them.  Their animal instincts will come out with age-appropriate games and crafts that will make them feel like monkeys in the jungle, and they'll go wild on the endangered carousel and camel encounters while getting their fish on at the spray n' play park.


AGES 9-12 "Eco Explorers"- Hybrid Camp

Meet from 9:00AM-2:00PM

Cost: $195 for members (Zoo or CANC)

Registration Begins 3/3 @ 9:00 for this camp What if you were told that you have an impact on animals in your back yard ? What if you were told that you have an impact on animals in Africa? Would you believe it? This year the Zoo along with the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center are creating a Hybrid Camp to try and help connect our decisions here in Chattanooga to the impact it has in our city and on the other side of the world! We will spend multiple days at each venue visiting animals from across the world, hiking and canoeing in Lookout Valley, taking a swim in the Warner Park Pool along with other fun-filled activities!

Available Dates: June 16-20, July 14-18

Overnights: June 27 or August 1 (Choose one)


AGES 3-4 (Summer camp)

Meet from 9:00am - 12:00pm

Cost: $85.00 for Members
$100.00 for Non-Members

Registration: 

This age group will enjoy learning the differences between birds, mammals, and reptiles. Campers enjoy hands-on encounters with Zoo’s education animals, along with a daily story time, sing-along, and tours of the Zoo. Pool Time: This age group goes to the Spray n' Play ONLY each week prior to the older groups arriving.

Available Dates: June 2-6(FULL), June 9-13 9(FULL), June 16-20(FULL), June 23-27, July 14-18, July 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1

AGES 5-6 (Summer camp)

Meet from 9:00am - 2:00pm

Cost: $110.00 for Members
$130.00 for Non-Members

Registration: 

Enjoy behind-the-scenes animal experiences. Campers will also have a blast interacting with daily “hands-on” encounters with our education animals. A daily story time and plenty of crafts are also included. Pool Time: This age group will attend pool time at regular time, but are not allowed to take the swim test. They are limited to the Kiddie Pools (2ft) and Spray n' Play park.

Available Dates: June 2-6(FULL), June 9-13, June 16-20, June 23-27, July 7-11 (FULL), July 14-18 (FULL), July 21-25, July 28-Aug.1

Overnights: There is no overnight for this age group


AGES 7-8 (Summer camp)

Enjoy behind-the-scenes animal encounters and experiences a short lesson on caring for the Zoo’s animals. Campers also play age-appropriate games, engage in animal encounter programs, begin learning how they can make decisions to impact our planet. Pool Time: This group will be allowed to take the swim test to swim in the Adult Pool. A swim test is not needed to play in the Kiddie Pools and the Spray n' Play park.

Campers in this age group are introduced to how they can impact the planet around then. Campers will be involved in keeper visits, group projects working with keepers and classmates, animal encounters, age appropriate activities, field trip and pool days. Pool Time: This group will be allowed to take the swim test to swim in the Adult Pool. A swim test is not needed to play in the Kiddie Pools and the Spray n' Play park.

ZOO-A-BILITY (Summer camp)

Camp F.A.Q.

When does Registration Open?

           Registration is now open for Zoo Camps 2014!

Upon Completion of registration, you will receive an email with attachments with more camp details. We are also creating "Parent Packets" that will be available here for download that will cover all aspects of our Zoo Camps. 

IMPORTANT! 

Our Spring Break Camp is set to what "Grade" campers are in. 

Our Summer Camp is set to what "Age" campers are in. The age cut off date is 9/1/2014. 

E.g... If a camper turns 9 before this date, even if they wanted to go to the June 2nd camp, they would sign up for the 9-12 year old age group. 

Are lunches or snacks provided?

No Lunch is provided, We will provide a snack around 1:30 each day.

A General Snack Schedule will be viewable at Check In each day. These schedules are subject to change at any time.

What will campers be doing?

Activities will include: Animal encounters, age-appropriate crafts, learning about various species, age-appropriate games, all while visiting some of camper’s favorite animals around the Zoo.

A day of camp consists of morning icebreakers and activities such as Zoo Tours, Animal Encounters and Keeper Visits. Lunch will fall around 11:30 each day. Afternoons will consist of educational animal programs, snack and afternoon crafts/activities.

Summer Zoo Camp- We will visit the Warner Park Pool & Spray n' Play during summer camp between 10-11. 

3-4 year old Requirement: 

 Campers must be potty trained.

Pool Time: (Summer only)

Ages 3-4: This age group will go earlier than the rest of the group and will only be allowed in the Spray n' Play area.

Ages 5-6: This group will only be able to play in the Spray n' Play area and the Kiddie Pools

Ages 7-14: Campers may swim in the Adult Pool ONLY if they pass a swim test that will be given each pool day.

Lifeguards  are trained and provided by the Warner Park Pool. All camp staff are on duty as well. The pool is not open to the public or parents. 

Do campers get a t-shirt?

Spring Break Camp- No shirts are provided

Summer Zoo Camp- 1 shirt is included in the camp fee

What is the dress code?

Campers must wear closed toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Most of the camp will be indoors, but we will be going outside for Zoo Tours, trips between buildings and registration will be outside.

Can Parents stay?

We have to ask that parents do not stay with their campers. Our staff and volunteers are well trained. To provide the best experience for your camper we cannot allow parents with the groups.

How early can I drop off my camper?

Registration will begin at 8:45. This is when the gates will be opened. No camper will be permitted inside before 8:45. There is no before care offered for our camps. 

We will depart at 9:15 to begin our activities. Any late campers must report to the gift shop and a camp staff member will come check the camper in from there.

Waitlists:

If your camper was wait-listed and a spot opens up, you will receive a separate email notifying you and it will have further instructions. 

We are unfortunately unable to give a time-table on whether your camper will get in or not. We cannot predict if campers will drop out or not. There are 7 spots on each week’s waitlist. You will be notified up to the Friday before your scheduled camp week if you are accepted into camp. 

After Care:

We will provide aftercare from 2pm-5pm; you may pick your child up in the gift shop anytime between these hours. It is $15 per day or $65 for the whole week. You may pay the camp director when you drop your camper off if you did not choose to do so during registration. There is no before care for our camp. 

No aftercare is available for Summer Camp Ages 3-4 unless a special circumstance is approved by the Camp Director. This is usually only the case with an older sibling attending camp. Aftercare costs still apply. 

Refunds: 

There is a non-refundable $30 Administrative Fee with each registration. The remaining balance becomes non-refundable 2 weeks 

before your scheduled camp date. 

"Eco Explorers" -Hybrid Camp: 
This is the first year the Chattanooga Zoo and the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center will be collaborating to provide a unique experience for campers. We will spend M,W,F at the Zoo and T, Th at the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center.
