This $3.9 million Cape of Africa exhibit, opened in 2024, furthers the goal of bringing more African animals to Chattanooga Zoo. Featuring fascinating African animals such as Cape porcupine, serval, and warthog, these unique exhibits immerse our guests in a full Africanexperience.
Common Warthog
Native to sub-Saharan Africa from Mauritania to Ethiopia and south into Namibia and eastern South Africa. Habitat includes open savannah grasslands and woodlands, and semi-arid bush.
Cape Porcupine
Native to central and southern Africa. Habitat includes forests, on plantations, in rocky or mountainous areas and in deserts.
Serval
Native to Central and Southern Africa. Habitat includes near thickly planted streams and rivers in the savannas.
Caracal
Native to Africa and the Middle East to India. Habitat includes savanna, semi-desert, dry woodland, and dry mountains.
